The b’nai mitzvah experience is a transformative moment in any young Jewish person’s life. Here, at MJC&S, each bar or bat mitzvah is uniquely tailored to the individual’s abilities and interests, and at the same time is deeply rooted in our Jewish tradition. Each prospective b’nai mitzvah is a part of our ongoing religious school, and receives small group tutoring sessions up to six months before the bar/bat mitzvah date. At that time, an intense process begins with Cantor Gindlin, who meets personally with each student weekly. Our students also work with the rabbinic staff to deepen their understanding of the torah portion in a way that is relevant to their lives. The bar/bat mitzvah provides a challenge for young teens that is exciting and fulfilling to all who engage in the process.
Upon completion of this rite of passage that is so central to Judaism, our young people are equipped to take their place as Jewish adults, excited by a Judaism that is spiritually uplifting and meaningful to their lives. Our magnificent facility is available for parties and celebrations, and we can accommodate celebrations for our members for up to four hundred people.
