MJC&S’ young adult education does not end once our teenagers have celebrated their Bar or Bat Mitzvah at the age of 13, which marks their passage into Jewish adulthood. Rabbi Benny Katz runs the synagogue’s confirmation program for eighth-graders, and teen program for students in ninth through twelve grade.
These programs concentrate on various social action projects, and have included the construction of solar cookers for Darfur, the hosting of an interfaith Seder (Passover meal), the collection of money for various local projects, and feeding the homeless and hungry. The synagogue features a teen youth lounge, which shows movies and holds social events.
